Saw that Itzhak Rabin was trending in this quarantined corner of the globe.
Gotta say, wasn’t expecting it to be because of AOC…
If @AOC can’t even do an event with *Peace Now* remembering Yitzhak Rabin, the general turned peacemaker killed by a far-right extremist for trying to make peace with the Palestinians, it suggests caring more about Twitter than good real world outcomes. Hope that’s not the case. pic.twitter.com/78d6ZS6OxN

Enormously disappointing decision by @AOC to withdraw from @PeaceNowUS Rabin event. There is no such thing as a peacemaker without war, which is inherently nasty and blood-soaked. There is no such thing as peace without complexity and compromise. This sends a terrible message.

If getting assassinated at your own peace rally after giving a full-throated speech in favor of the cause is not enough to deserve to be commemorated, hard to see what any Israeli could possibly do to earn a kosher stamp from these people, and hard to see why they would want it. https://t.co/0SghLFlGos

What makes it worse is that Rabin’s efforts and legitimacy are constantly under attack by plenty in the Israeli right. Those attacking him, who despise the smallest notion of a Two State Solution will be empowered by this.
And on top of that, others on the Israeli right who have been against her “Squad” due to actions by Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib will now point to this as further proof that AOC really is hostile to Israel and to Jews.
What respect I had for her is officially toast.
