Science only becomes important, and relevant, to many on the right when it becomes personal. In regard to women’s healthcare, they’ll deny science 24/7, 365, but let one of them be diagnosed with a devastating/debilitating medical condition, and the same person will run to medical doctors who rely heavily on science to treat their medical condition.
