I’ve watched several of Timothy Snyder’s videos. Of particular interest was his notion that the One Thing that was the biggest factor in mortality rates for Jews in Europe during WW2 was how consistently or inconsistentlly they were considered to be members of a nation-state —a formality/convention under which citizens enjoy certain measures of protection by default. THIS has direct lessons for ALL the immigration/refugee issues now under consideration, everywhere. And it speaks of the worst aspects of “security” measures like the Patriot Act.
