Okay, guys OT but can someone give me a simple version of what Gamergate is. This thing seems to be the thing that spawned much of this crap.

As I understand it, a messy breakup between two people in the gaming media somehow led to this giant outpouring of misogyny because one man had to be a giant flaming asshole and many other men though this was great fun. Kind of like the election of 2016, actually.
