The reason it’s an absurd idea is that it presumes the Democrats are operating from a position of weakness when they’re not. If Pelosi wants to be magnanimous when the time comes that’s fine, but if Republican bad faith has taught me anything it’s that the absolute last thing she should do is just preemptively give up that card in the hopes that the GOP will then see reason.
IMO getting rid of both Pence and Trump is an unrealistic diversion from the essential task of getting rid of Trump. If Trump gets the boot, let the GOP have a crippled president Pence, with all the charisma of a slime mold. But the price should be no pardons of anyone by Pence while he’s in office.
