Off thread note…

It is good to back home, Lizards. I and my family were at the Rev War re-enactment at The House in The Horseshoe this weekend in North Carolina with the 84th NC Highlanders, and I was part of the honor guard last night in a Scottish wedding held just after the afternoon battle.

However, I also ended up as a heat casualty (it was pretty bloody hot, and in period 18th Century clothing…you really, really notice that), and I ended up getting pounced on by an ER nurse (one of the unit officers) and got covered in ice water towels and spoaked in cold water to get my core temp down. I knew I was starting to feel faint and I recognized I had heat exhaustion. My spouse drove us home a bit after the wedding.

Everything is fine now, but just a reminder to all to watch out in hot weather. I was pounding water all day and I watched my family like a hawk to see that they did also, but it still got to me (not that standing at attention holding a claymore sword at a 55 degree angle helped…).
