I would note that Arizona is likely to be very hard hit by the uncertainties in Trump’s travel EO. We have 4.5 million visitors to the Grand Canyon every year, and that’s not the only tourist attraction around. Sedona gets a ton of foreign tourists. (In fact, the first time I visited Sedona, in 1998, there were so many French tourists around it annoyed me, so I said to my boyfriend, “Let’s drive out to Meteor Crater, why don’t we?” which is 100 miles away up the I-17 to the I-40.) Even down here in the Valley of the Sun, we have tons of “snowbirds,” visitors from cold states like Wisconsin and Minnesota and provinces like Alberta and Saskatchewan, and they stay for months. Some mobile home parks even fly the Canadian flag.

I expect by this time next year, we’ll have a good idea.

The city I’m concerned about having a bad impact is Minneapolis. It has a large and thriving Somali immigrant community.
