So I found a bat sleeping in my living room this morning

no idea how it got there (there are screens on all the windows)

caught it in a jar and put it on the back porch

You’re lucky you were able to get it easily. The two times I’ve had to deal with a bat in the house, “capture” had to involve much effort with the swimming-pool net on a long pole, and a good deal of rather intemperate language. A lot of the latter directed at over-curious cats….
