If you divide it correctly, each new state will have a big Democratic majority. Its unconscionable that a state with 30 million people has vastly fewer Senators than all those underpopulated red states combined.

Other states are like that too. And the proposed divisions of California are designed to benefit the GOP. In any case, thanks to the Constitution the Senate is gerrymandered as is the electoral college (to a lesser extent) and thanks to GOP legislatures the House is gerrymandered.

The only hope is a true wave election that can overcome these ill-effects.
