Mary Fallin being elected was the specific reason my wife and I moved from Oklahoma.

Shortly after she was elected (after the housing crash), she pushed a bill for “driving safety” promoted by specialist physicians who were not making as much money at the time to require people with “medical conditions” to get a sign off from a specialist for each condition before they could renew a license.

I received a letter from the state saying I had to see eleven specialists, in November, and had one month to get the signatures or lose my license. (All were related to epilepsy.)

Even if a specialist only charges $1,000 (plus any tests), that would be $11,000 every year to hold a driver’s license.

It is unsurprising today the largest percentage of uninsured motorists and unlicensed motorists in any state are in Oklahoma.
