re: #5 A hollow voice says, Covfefe.

Holy Mama, Nate Silver has updated the Democratic chances of winning the Senate to one in five.

Beware the late movement in the polls. It doesn’t happen nearly as much as one would think. The odds are that the GOP retains the Senate - mostly because far more Democrats were up in this cycle than GOPers. The odds are that the GOP may actually pick up a seat or two because of the underlying structure of this cycle in the Senate.

The House is a different story and it’s likely to be a huge wave, which is why Trump is trying to deny, deflect, and dig deeper with the lies and racism.

The party in power controlling Congress has what accomplishments to run on? A tax cut that polls poorly even among the GOP base - because the trickle down doesn’t. It’s a massive redistribution of wealth to millionaires and the burdens all go the other way.

The GOP is also trying to lie and bluster by claiming Democrats are going to take away health care - when the Congressional Record - the actual record of action by this GOP has been nonstop attempts to gut health coverage for tens of millions of Americans, and the GOP is on the record as wanting to gut Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.

They want to roll back the safety net, and are hoping to bamboozle their base into thinking that this is a good thing, mostly because they’re fearmongering that minorities might be using these programs too.

So, that leaves the GOP running on the bigotry and racism plank that Trump made clear was the only thing the GOP base cares about - fear of a few thousand migrants seeking asylum, minorities and immigrants in the US are criminals (when immigrants in particular commit crime at a far lower rate than native born Americans), and then the whole birthright citizenship thing.
