In fact, as a bedtime story my Dad used to read me the descriptions of planes from this big book of military and civilian aircraft.

My favorites where always the Russian MIG-29, the Bear bomber, and the SU-27. He would always accuse me of being a double agent.

When I was in 7th grade the interesting aircraft was the TU-160 Blackjack. I remember how it got hyped at times as the newest Russian weapon. The the Cold War ended and it was seen as a White Elephant (RACIST!/) for some time. Lately, however, the Blackjack has come into its own as a low-level heavy attack aircraft. Its done so well that Russia has had one Blackjack assembled from old components and ordered another one brand-new one.
