re: #211 Bagua

I became aware of this a couple of years ago when I made friends with a man who runs a restaurant in a black community. (Houston is very segregated and I have never seen white people in the Black restaurants and clubs I frequent.)

He was full of conspiracy theories about “the Jews” being responsible for 911, controlling all the media and banks, and so on. He told me that he had heard this from countless people in that community and found all sorts of conspiracy sites on the internet to further these claims.

I explained to him the fallacy of these attacks and also the fact that it was prominently Jewish people who risked their lives to advance civil rights in America.

He then asked me: “So if it is all lies, then why is the Tribe hated so much?”

I replied: “So why are Black people hated so much? Hatred of Jews is the oldest hatred.”

This rang true with him and his research changed to looking at the Bible from a Jewish perspective.

Bravo, Bagua for fighting prejudice and conspiracy theories. Please repost that when iceweasel is around, but don’t address it to her. It might do some good.
