I went to school with missionary kids from Honduras and Nicaragua at Fundagelical U. — at the time.

Their stories aren’t so glamorous as you apparently think the cold war was — they were traumatized people, and they were only tagging along with our military, like so many Christian missionaries do, not the actual targets of conservative prolife war profiteers, slap-happy to drop as many bombs on as many nonwhites as possible.

Doesn’t matter what region of the world they’re to be found in — do like they do here and bring up the scary boogie man of “the commies” and let the cash and the bubbly at the contract-signing party flow.
