Oh, that book was great. I never expected her to write a whole book about Ivan and one that was so clever at that? I loved seeing Miles and Gregor from his POV as well. Made me go back and read a bunch of the older books again :) The ending made up for the tear jerker ending of Cryoburn, too.

I thought an Ivan POV novel worked well also. Plus she also got to do her usual investigation of the effects of a SF device/development or two on societies and relationships. Not as broadly as _Cryoburn_ for instance, but I thought there were so real good observations buried in there about trust, family structures, societal structures, relationships once reproduction is sort of separated out, and genetic modification. (Not to mention that it’s obvious that Grandmama is another formidable Bujold female.)
