The ACA has become the GOP’s Kobayashi Maru at this point. The GOP found out the hard way last November that Americans, particularly young voters and minority voters, don’t take well to suggestions that the law constitutes “hand-outs” and that it needs to be repealed. But anything short of votes for total repeal are going to draw the base’s ire and, as we saw yesterday, be doomed to failure if enough votes defect.
