As soon as the base loses that belief, they’re done.

That is why the GOP has spent the last half-century in a consistent project to make their base into an army of heavily propagandized meatheads.

There is no immediate danger of any appreciable fraction of that base appreciating the hard truth that they are just disposable tools for the GOP donor class.
