The GOP has been telling people for more than four years now that the debt is the single biggest problem, and now they’re confused as to why people believe them. They also insisted that raising the debt ceiling was the same thing as spending more, and they’re surprised when their members believe them.

This sort of idiocy is really weird to me. So many of my freshly-ex-Republican friends are wandering around not believing that things got to this state, and it’s weird because I fucking told them this was the inevitable path of the GOP once they fully embraced the anti-science lunacy. Once you divorce yourself from science, you divorce yourself from accountability and you have no way of actually calling people to order.
