The marriage is always possible, but without the approval of the Monarch - the leader of the Church of England, the royal can lose all royal privilege. This was why Princess Margaret did not marry her divorcee back in the 1950s when the C of E did not recognize divorce. And now, that same church married a divorcee who was brought up as a R.C. - and the Queen makes her a Duchess. Things do change - just takes some time.
That issue came up with Charles and Camilla: she was the love of his life but marriage was out of the question as she was a divorcee, so he wound up marrying Diana, whom he did not really love, and we all know how that ended.
As it is, I expect his mom is just going to do her damnedest to outlive him and pass the throne on to her grandson.
