Republicans know they’re demographically screwed.

In 2018, the most common age for white Americans was 58. For other demographics, “the most common age was 11 for Hispanics, 27 for blacks and 29 for Asians.” Source: Pew Research Center

The Democratic nominees need to be candidates who can deal with the scorched-earth campaigns of all Republicans. The GOP has been increasingly awful for over half a century, but I fear, we ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

There are plenty of stories behind these numbers, but I’d venture a guess that, in addition to the baby boom generation (that was primarily a white thing), another factor causing whites to average significantly older in this study is that many of us have a better standard of living than do minorities (generally speaking of course). More of us living longer means the average age for our group goes up. More people dying young and the average age goes down. Also, I’m pretty sure we’re not having as many kids as minorities either.

Of course there IS a coming demographic shift and white people who don’t realize that really have their bigoted heads in the sand.
