We still don’t know Paddocks in LV.

And we likely never will. Paddock was such a loner that even if he’d had the opportunity to tell someone what he was planning, he most likely wouldn’t have.

My hypothesis is that he planned to kill himself, but not before taking out a whole bunch of people. Going out in a blaze of glory, as it were.
