If you can point me to Obama actions in response to Russiaās Ukraine aggression that Trump somehow limited or removed, Iāll take back my comment. The fact is that Obama was POTUS for over 2 years after Crimea, and didnāt exactly do much either. Trump was a disaster, but letās dish out policy specific criticism fairly.
All the āObama was weak in response to Crimeaā takes were pushed by right-wingers such as Charles Krauthammer and the Brookings Institute.
Unless we were going to go to war with Russia, there wasnāt much Obama could do beyond what he did.
That action saw a number of Russians sanctioned by the USA seizing their property here, Russia ejected from the G-8, loan guarantees to Ukraine, suspension of cooperation agreements with Russiaās nuclear energy firm Rosatom, and a boycott by the American delegation to the 2014 Sochi Winter Paralympics, which was to be led by Tammy Duckworth.
