GOP these past four years has done everything possible to alienate Latino voters. The recent ad that compared Obama to Che, Castro, and Chavez didn’t go over well at all apparently and it’s easy to see why.

There’s also a lot of latinos who came here first as migrant workers of one kind or another, in the food industry, the building trades, and of course the entire agricultural industry. One of the biggest Latino heroes is Cesar Chavez, a labor organizer. So is Corky Gonzales, a community organizer. And so is Jaime Escalante, a (shock) public school teacher— and he was pretty damn right wing, but he was passionate about the funding and importance of public education.

So when the GOP trash community organizers, public school teachers, and labor leaders, they’re really trashing a very large portion of Latino heritage, and really the majority of grassroots latino political history.
