re: #210 No Malarkey!

For the first time this year. the Democrats’ odds of retaining control of the House exceed the GOP’s odds of winning control of the Senate at fivethirtyeight.com, 29% to 28%. When the lines opened on June 1, the GOP was given a 60% shot at winning the Senate, and an 86% chance of controlling the House.

I gave up on political polls sometime during the Obama administration. As I’ve said before, we live in a Literary Digest world. Getting an unbiased honest sample that represents the population of actual voters has become an increasingly challenging task. My decision to join LGF in 2016 was motivated by a desire to support PLL who, pre-election, dissented very vocally here on the outcome of the election because he wouldn’t accept the poll results that showed a Hillary victory.

I don’t have a clue on how the 2022 election will turn out — on the effects of voter suppression in red states — on the anger of women and younger voters because of the Dobbs decision. I know too many people who have drunk the Kool-Aid, people who are financially secure and educated, and it’s disheartening to see how easy it is to brainwash masses of people. It’s comforting to see these numbers but let’s not delude ourselves that they represent anything real.
