It probably is the fault of the church. The philosophy of evangelical Christianity emphasizes that women are to be submissive and to find their fulfillment in obeying their husband. If she bought into the church’s belief system, she would’ve felt alienated unless she modified her behavior and her thought processes to match those of the “accepted” social norms in that crazy culture.

Yeah, and she’s certainly “bought into” her church’s philosophy all the way. She now thinks the Earth is 5,000 years old. And that man and dinosaurs co-existed.
