“School choice” is about as Orwellian a phrase as you can get. You get cut a check, you don’t actually get a choice where your child goes. Why? Because those private schools you want your darlin’ in will just raise their tuition rates to keep’em out, the charter schools will remain diploma mills, and that check ain’t gonna be able to allow you to move to neighborhoods where the “good” schools are. The purpose of “school choice” is simply re-segregation, returning things back to the days when minority schools were poorly funded rat-traps while white schools were the best because they got plenty of funding.
