re: #207 Testy Toad T

And your answer is…. glass the place?

I mean, I’m not saying the Israelis have ever been saints, but you fall victim to the Libertarian Paradox. Everything sounds reasonable for five minutes (or lines) until the reader realizes you have gone completely whacko.

No, my rhetoric is purely theoretical.

Look, here’s my problem - multigenerational occupations warp everybody involved. They warp the thinking of the occupied, the occupiers see their subjects as unhuman, thus come the punitive reprisals.

The days of the blank check from the US for this are rapidly coming to a close, and if the taxpaying Israeli public had to pay the full freight of the occupation and policy intransigence on the apartheid - no more American dollars supporting the militarism, no more cover at the UN, divestiture campaigns, sanctions, international isolation - then perhaps you would see some genuine movement toward compromise on the two states or assimilation.

The alternative is more apartheid, more occupation, more death.

The Israelis can’t have a religious state with democratic components without ethnic cleansing. They can have a secular democratic state without it, but that won’t satisfy either the Orthodox or the American religious right (who only care about Israel long enough to bring Jesus back to Earth so that the Jews get wiped out).

Time to choose.
