Holy shit.

So the company I work for just got a new CEO 3 months ago - and as most of you already understand from your own experience that creates a trickle-down effect not unlike Reaganomics. A few people get great power and reward while downstream people wait, eyes closed, mouths open, with great anticipation for either a loving beak holding a worm or the claws of a raptor.

Well, we got a new CTO and the raptor swooped by after a few weeks and ate 1/3 of the developers in one chomp. The rest of us were told to hang tight and a new org chart would come within a few weeks. (makes you feel great, right?) Anticipating the worst, I threw my hat in for a position that I had been trying to help my boss fill recruitment-wise. It was more cross-team than my current role so I thought it’d be a good play. And I got it.

Well, today the org chart came out and it looks like I made a smart move. I’ll be reporting to a different person - a Director, and my boss retains the remainder of his team. I take on 5 people beneath me, however. This is great because I like leading teams and being a manager. But I suspect it won’t sit well with my now former boss.

Add to that the fact that I have a call for a Director level spot elsewhere today that would be financially quite stimulating, and it’s a pretty good hump day.

Congrats! Made me think of this: dilbert.com
