Do you use mayonaisse on the exterior? We use a little bit of butter with it. Crispy, rich, and evenly browned. Butter alone gets sucked up in the bread randomly and the rest chars.

I use margarine. The mayonnaise is an interesting take on it - I can see how it would work.
