Say what you will about George W. Bush, but he has not forgotten those whom he sent to war:

George W. Bush on his bike ride honoring veterans: “This is a way for me to say that not only do I respect them, but I love them”

On Thursday, “Piers Morgan Tonight” shared a rare and exclusive behind the scenes visit with former president George W. Bush.

Having returned to his home state of Texas since leaving office, Bush generally avoids the glare of the spotlight and the public eye. But he remains passionate about honoring and supporting America’s veterans, through an event bearing his signature initial:

“The W100 is a hundred kilometer mountain bike ride to honor our vets who have been wounded in combat, to thank their families, and to thank the groups that have helped them recover from serious injury,” explained the 43rd U.S. president.

As part of the W100, the one-time commander in chief rode alongside 20 servicemen and women, each of whom had been wounded in the global war on terror.
