I figure Confirmation Bias is so strong in him that any random black-ish guy who feigned an ‘African’ accent could have sold it to him.

I asked myself the same question. Turns out Malik was interviewed by Joel Gilbert (another associate of the Rage Furby) and bragged about having the first draft and briefly showed it in a video. So I believe he did buy it, but there’s no way of knowing whether Malik’s copy is real or not. UpChuck’s dream of testing it for DNA is exceedingly bizarre and I’m pretty sure a complete waste of time.
