The most depressing thing is that this is true - Cheeto Benito *is* smarter than his supporters (because, as I’ve heard it said, a successful con-artist doesn’t need to be smart per sae, only smarter than the people he’s trying to con).

It all depends on your definition of smart. Most Trumpsters of my acquaintance would score higher on an IQ test. But when it comes to tests of gullibility, they would all fail. The information they accept is filtered and even if they read other viewpoints, it is automatically rejected because they are embedded in the cult. And they are basically racists at their core who support the preservation of the confederate statues because “heritage”. They are not the WWC but they still think Trump is brilliant.
