You don’t get to choose, though. That’s what representative government is about.

California has a kind of direct voter control over taxes and it’s killed the state - because though you can’t pass a tax hike there without a referendum, everybody wants the services.

And I’ll be you there are plenty of people who don’t think it’s worth their money to launch and maintain all those GPS satellites just so lazy basterds like me don’t have to plan their trips using maps anymore.
