re: #224 Obdicut

They have their own news, with their own “facts,” and most of them hardly ever step outside the bubble. They start the day with Fox, move on to talk radio during the commute and at work and then come home to Drudge, Freep, Ace, Breitbart, etc, and a second and maybe third helping of Fox. Most of the news they get has a severe slant to it at the least and some of it is completely fabricated.

Ever wonder why all of them constantly employee so many guest hosts, guest writers, and consultants? It is because those people can outright lie with impunity, they can make up facts and figures out of thin air. If an uproar occurs over incorrect information then the network just shrugs and says “well that was just the guests opinion.”

They cynically manipulate their own audience to induce outrage and interest to drive up their own ratings and profits. At the same time they drone on many times a day about how incorrect and partisan all other sources of news are and tell their audience that only they can be trusted. When someone pulls the Magical balance fairy out and says “well your side does it too” ask yourself when the was the last time you ever heard ABC, CNN, CBS, or NBC claim to be the only station with the truth? When did they ever tell you not to trust what you heard anywhere else?

Meanwhile our poor “conservative entertainment media” (NOT NEWS!) consumer gets his or her daily dose of brainwashing while being purposefully misinformed about the world outside their window. It boggles the mind, where did all the utterly and completely fabricated stories about Benghazi come from over the last two months? As soon as one uproar started to cool they just pulled another one out of their hat. Like the story based completely on hearsay in a students forum post that made it all the way to the Washington times.

Who fed these people all of stories about Romney’s upcoming landslide victory, who “unskewed” the polls and spoon-fed them to a captive audience? Who brings people like Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, and Bryan Fischer on to their programs to spew hatred, racism, bigotry, and more made up facts and statistics than you can shake a stick at?

I read “our” sites, “their” sites, purely informational sites with no ideology, and pretty much anything else I can find that interests me. I’m not afraid of becoming “infected” with bad information or ideology because I use my head and the available resources to check and verify things before I swallow them whole. I wish there was a way to get the consumers of Right Wing misinformation to do the same.
