Seriously, I think you have to go back to Reagan in ‘76 as the last major party candidate (not even nominee) to fight releasing tax returns. Reagan eventually relented, and released his tax returns that year and in subsequent runs. It’s just standard operating procedure, anyone who is even considering running for office has to know they need their tax returns in order.

Democrats should say that it should be a law for presidential candidates to release at least their last 14 years of returns.
