Maybe. It’s a TP debate so that’s his natural audience. It also means he’s more likely to say a bunch of shit that will come back to bite him in the general.

I think the other part of it is the part of the GOP that is sick of the tea party. I have to wonder about the money interests, many of whom depend on real science e.g. petroleum, chemicals/materials, etc., take to this anti-science stance. I hope they speak up, because they are on a collision course with this monster they created.
