We have an Asian Pear, Bartlett Pear, and Meyer Lemon trees. Our climate is marginal for all of them—some years we don’t get enough chill hours for pears, sooner or later a frost will kill the lemon. An actual lemon merengue pie, all from scratch, is not to be dismissed.

I forgot to mention pear trees. Had a lot of those around too. Some of them quite large…you had to be aware of pears dropping from a tall pear tree if you were playing around them, like football. A hard pear to the ol’ head is not fun.
