re: #226 Eclectic Cyborg

This is tough to respond to. There are many groups and individuals who are constantly doing very selfless and generous things which are often attributed to direction from God. I also freely admit that there are religious based groups doing terrible and harmful things that are also attributed to direction from God. This is the flawed nature of humanity rearing its ugly head.

Jesus was never discriminatory. His greatest commandment in the Bible is to love each other without condition, qualification or restraint. If all who professed to follow Jesus actually did this, the world would look like a very different place.

And I realize those words were written by man and translated by man but I do find them powerful nevertheless.

Just because people aren’t being healed doesn’t mean someone isn’t praying for them to be and even if someone is praying for them to be healed, God may choose to say “No” because it’s not how He wants things to be. I don’t claim to understand God as I believe no man truly can.

Personally speaking, I have prayed to God many times and either He has answered some of them or I’ve experienced one odds defying chain of coincidences. Spirituality is different for everyone and I understand that some of what you see may lead you to conclude that there is no God.

This is about the best answer I’m able to give you though I know it is lacking.

Thank you for answering. My concern is both sides want to claim the mind of some god. That is the problem. Everyone admits they can’t explain the divergence between lived experience and what this god is supposedly like, but by god they know god values life even when there is no evidence.
