Actually, now that I think about it, I could totally see Repubs trying to do what they’ve done in the past: Float a bill that is strictly about defense funding/troop pay, then grandstanding about how Dems are holding troops “hostage.” That if they’d just agree to bring impeachment to an end, that funding and all the other bills Americans “want” would quickly move towards Donny’s desk.

The problem for Trump and the GOP is it’s going to be so blatantly obvious why the shutdown is occurring. There are those that would cut off their child’s arm for Trump, but there are going to be a few more that will see just how many people he’s willing to sacrifice for his cause.
