For me, no. I’m not a fan of Obama’s budget and all the wasteful entitlement programs. Although I’m in favor of progressive taxation I don’t want him to raise taxes an the rich. I make a living off rich people so I’m happy when they have money.
The Tea Party’s opposition to bailing out the banks is a problem for me. The biggest mistake made in this crisis was letting Lehman Brothers fail. Repeating that same mistake another dozen times is not a good idea. Like it or not we need to save our financial infrastructure (which hinges on about a dozen banks). If we let them collapse we’re going to see runs on banks. Everybody will rush to get their money out before they collapse. This will accelerate the process. Even banks that aren’t in trouble will fail because nobody knows which banks are safe. Everybody will just keep their money at home. Your employer will have the same problem, if he doesn’t get his money out in time you’ll get no paycheck. You won’t be able to pay your rent. ATM machines will be cleaned out and shut down.
It’s really an apocalyptic scenario. Ron Paul is open about this. He wants to destroy the financial infrasture so he can abolish the FED and go back to the gold standard for the dollar. Regular conservatives have an instinct against the bailouts and are just being duped into supporting Ron Paul’s destructive agenda.
