Ignorance, a lack of empathy and blind belief.

Ignorance of how to develop useful international relations.
No empathy for the people of Greece who are needlessly suffering.
Blind belief in an economic system that ignores reality.

It’s not a lack of empathy, I understand how they feel. But I also think they’ve got a bad attitude and they need an adjustment. They are a sovereign nation, so it would not be right to use actual force to try to impel that adjustment, but there is nothing illegal about requiring that a genuine change be made before they are given any more money. It can be demanded in a non-hostile fashion, but it should be demanded, IMO. Instead of a ultimatum, it should given something like “If we are to keep funding you, we need a sign that you are serious about reform.” The ‘we’ in this case being the rest of the EU, and they can feel free to do something else if they like. This is just one man’s opinion.
