They were created to encourage investment, as the amount of ownerâs liability cannot exceed their investment.
This, of course, encourages owners to milk them for all they can and then run them into the ground or flip them ĂĄ la Bain Capital.
The other point, which I made repeatedly during the whole âHobby Lobbyâ controversy, is that you form a corporation specifically to say to the world that you are not the company, and the company is not you. It is a separate entity from you. That being the case, you donât get to imbue it with your religious preferences.
Mind you, if you want to say that your company is you and you are it, go ahead, but then if it goes under you lose your house and all your personal property.
