Like, I can understand wanting to protect someone from scrutiny if you’re a public figure.

Fuck, I’m incredibly guarded about exposing people and I’m not any kind of famous.

But…simultaneously keeping someone around and making them part of your job and talking about them but only claiming them as “family” to make a poorly-constructed riposte in a political argument.

No buffering with irony or hyperbole, this bothers me. Whatever the actual configuration turns out to be, these are gross, unhealthy people who largely see people as means, not ends.
