OK. So we decide whether we’d want that extra hour of light at the beginning or end of the day at the shortest day of the year.
A 3pm, the light in my kitchen is turned on if I need something there. If it’s 10pm, I still have to turn my light on to find something there. Where I work doesn’t have windows, and at my previous job that did, I didn’t use the sun for any part of my job.
Not only do we not need the sun to see, we don’t use the sun to see.
On the other hand, the changeover in the spring actually causes an increase in accidents.
It was instituted to save energy costs, I believe, during WWI. Is that right?
