Gee, I dunno, Ben, any relation to Jacob “Gurrah” Shapiro, the founding father of Murder, Inc.? Or the three Shapiro brothers who were major New York mobsters in the 1920s and 30s? Or of course maybe some of your non-Shapiro ancestors belonged to or headed some of the other notorious gangster organizations way back in the day?
