Yes, but they got 13% of the vote and a corresponding number of seats. The Socialists and Christian Democrats barely managed to scrape up a majority to for a Grand Coalition, I I suspect that they will not be able to do so next time around.

Right now, the two fringe parties, Die Linke and the AfD have been excluded from coalition talks by all other parties, but I suspect that Chemnitz will drive a lot of voters away towards the fringes and make it necessary to coalesce with one of them to form a viable majority government..
