Maybe, but then you have to realize that the professional Brexiteers are mostly crooks, opportunists, and racists/nuts.

The crooks know Brexit would suck, and are shorting the market and expecting to make bank on creating a banana republic tax haven off the coast of Europe. You probably could threaten them into accepting a deal, but if it’s still got decent financial and worker protections in it there’s no point for them.

The opportunists are the biggest component. This was an internal Tory power battle that got out of hand, and the opportunists never expected to win. They expected to lose and campaign on how much better everything would have been with a hypothetical Brexit. They’re the dogs that caught the car. These include Johnson, May, and the actual politicians. They would probably be relieved if they were “forced” into cancelling Brexit.

The racists and nuts are just that. They want Johnny Foreigner out, they want Britain to rule the waves again, they think that all will tremble before the might of the Empire, and they won’t listen to reason. They’re the MAGAts, and of course they’ll still want Brexit.

Not Johnson, he’s a hard core asshole.
