from last thread:
House Speaker Paul Ryan casts doubt on the integrity of the California election system. Election administrators/experts say there is absolutely nothing unusual at all about continuing to count ballots after election day. https://t.co/vsowJWoXQN pic.twitter.com/m0lQ0Mizv8

Want some cheese to go with that whine, Paul?
If the proper secure precautions are taken with counting, why should it matter if properly-submitted ballots (late, mail, provisional or whatever) are counted immediately on Election Night, or later (within a reasonable time)?
That said, Ryan (and some other GOPers) do have a vague fraction of a point re the 2018 midterms: AFAICR, a large percentage of Democratic wins/flips have been by relatively thin margins - especially in those reddish/purple/marginal districts: and, this time round, often by recount/late-ballot/mail-ballot re-totalling, and later-than-usual. It won’t matter for the next Congress, but I just get a feeling that the “blue wave”, while quite broad, is not quite deep enough to portend a fundamental shift in public sentiments (though, of course, it is a fine start). I hope Dems can properly build on their 2018 successes to do as well, or better, in 2020. Especially as regards the Senate: IMO the more-important Chamber to try to control.
