re: #6 Ace Rothstein

Repost from downstairs:
I’ve been an Astros fan since 1977 (I was six). The first game I went to at the Astrodome, they played the Montreal Expos (now the Washington Nationals). The Astros lost the game, but I couldn’t figure out why because I added up all the runs, hits, and errors, and the Astros had more than the Expos. They’re about to lose the Series, but the last three years have been a blast. Plus, it’s something other than our shared hatred of Trump that I can talk about with my family.

Glad you reposted because I wanted to reply. Small world. An old friend of mine, Terry Ward, was Assistant Marketing Coordinator for the Astros in 1977-78. He was the guy who put together the promotion to cut the original Astroturf up into little squares and make keepsakes. Somewhere, in a box in my attic, I have mine.

(Terry then had Texas Tumbleweed and Dirty’s restaurants in Houston. Now runs Country Communities. I haven’t seen him in years, but I guess he’s been quite a success)
