Yes. The whole thing is just sickening. If the article said, I missed it, but it sounds as though he sold York’s wife away before the trip. To owe your life to someone, and then to beat them if they want to join their wife, it is just more than human sensibility can handle. I will never think of either Clark or Lewis (who encouraged Clark not to free York) well again.

And historians today? A pox on their houses if they perpetuate such a falsehood.
